Could This Planned Saudi Arabia Eco-Friendly Mirrored Line City For 9 Million Residents Help In Building Sustainable Cities On The Moon And Mars?

Saudi Arabia is one of the significant players in sustainability and technological advancement. The country recently announced its plan to build a futuristic vertical city named the Line. What did Saudi Arabia plan to achieve with this futuristic city? How will this futuristic idea help in building the first Martian City? Can we achieve sustainability if the entire world adopts this idea? This article best answers these questions and more.

What Saudi Arabia Plans to Achieve from the Futuristic City

Several challenges facing Urban cities are growing by the day. Some of these challenges include increment in carbon emissions, taking too much from nature, and other devastating impacts on nature. However, Saudi Arabia is stepping in to curb these challenges with its Vertical mirrored city.

The City will be built to be 500 meters high, implying that the LINE will be taller than the Empire State Building, which stood at the height of 443 meters. The length of this city will cover about 170 kilometers. Saudi Arabia plans to build the city as a mirrored glass linear world, which will have the potential to accommodate up to 9 million residents.

The city will be built as a series of unique communities that will provide wealth amenities to its residents. The country plans to organize the city’s communities in three dimensions. This implies that residents of this futuristic city will have access to everything they need for their daily life within 5 minutes of walking around their neighborhood.

These basic needs, including schools, shopping, working offices, recreational grounds, and many others, will be accessible within 5 minutes of walking around your neighborhood. Artificial intelligence will play a significant role in operating this futuristic city.

Most services will be provided for the 9 million residents using these AI technologies to make life easier. The autonomous services imply that residents will save time and effort in accomplishing complex tasks. On average, it will take humans approximately 40 hours of walking to cover the 170 kilometers length of the LINE.

However, the autonomous services provided by AI technology will make it easier for people to travel from one end of the city to the other in just 20 minutes. This autonomous transportation system will eliminate the need for cars. When there is no need for cars, there will be significantly zero carbon emissions from automobiles. Saudi Arabia also reveals that the energy and water supply to the city will be 100 percent renewable.

The country plans to build the city in the heart of the trade route. This location is suited near the Red Sea in Neom. In this planned location, about 40 percent of the world’s population can access the city in just about 6 hours of flight.

The LINE will be surrounded by oceans and mountains, implying that the beauty of nature will surround residents. Saudi Arabia plans to complete this futuristic city in the 2030s. Hence, the city may be fully ready for people to move in by the next decade.

How will this futuristic idea help in Building the first Lunar and Martian City?

The idea of building colonies outside the earth has been the goal of billionaires like Elon Musk. However, this idea requires a lot of effort, including building sustainable cities and protecting humans from the devastating impact of space radiation. Many countries, including Saudi Arabia, have joined the space race. These countries hope to build colonies someday on another celestial body.

However, no one knows precisely when the first city will be built on the moon or Mars. But with the idea of the LINE, we all could see a promising future of humans building sustainable cities on the Moon and Mars. If we must build a colony on the Moon or Mars, we may consider designing them as one gigantic structure just like the LINE.

You may wonder what makes the LINE a perfect city to plan to build cities on other celestial bodies. Both the lunar and Mars surface do not have a hospitable environment and atmosphere to sustain human civilization. Hence, a sustainable city with sophisticated technologies to provide humans with a suitable living environment will be built for future colonists.

Other reasons why cities on the moon and mars need to follow a similar pattern as the LINE are to save construction costs, implement sustainability and preserve nature. The completion of the futuristic city in the 2030s will help educate our scientists on how humans will live in one gigantic mega city outside the Moon and Mars.

Conclusion

Building colonies outside the planet requires a lot of effort and financial planning. As Saudi Arabia has already proposed the LINE concept, the city’s completion will give us a sense of how humans will live on the Moon and Mars in the future. What do you think about this futuristic city?

  1. To Whom It May Concern:
I made a joke about this and called it The Tesla City Hung In Space. It was a joke. This idea you have is not sustainable. Human beings are made to live here on Earth. Earth has everything we need. Please let us stop all the ASAT tests in space and take better care of our planet Earth. Satellites in space could be used for more research and human could continue to briefly visit space and come back home where they belong. Home is Earth. We have no business living in space.
