May the 4th: Why Fourth of May Turned into a Historic Celebration for Space Lovers

Earlier today, many scientists including Neil deGrasse Tyson tweeted, “May the 4th be with you.”You may be wondering why space lovers are celebrating this day. May 4th of every year turned into a historic celebration for space lovers, and you are about to find out the reason why we celebrate this day.

Why does the world Celebrate May the 4th?

May 4th of every year has remained a remarkable day as it marks the celebration of Star Wars. Star Wars is an American space opera movie that was released on May 25th, 1977. In one of its scenes, Jedi Masters in the movie used the phrase, “May the force be with you.”

Star War fans were so fascinated by this phrase that they turned it into “May the 4th Be with you.” After this translation, Star War fans across the world began to celebrate the Star Wars on this day.

However, this celebration has remained unofficially recognized for decades. But in 2019, California Lawmakers voted to pronounce May 4 as the official Star Wars Day. This celebration will continue to thrive in generations to come.

Keep in mind that the Star Wars movie gave every space lover a hope of a better tomorrow in space. The movie enabled us to imagine the future of humans among the stars.

Based on our current space technologies, we are still far from reaching another planetary system within our Milky Way Galaxy. But with the rate at which we are progressing, the future will surely be better than the present.

Remember that we never dreamt of exploring space 100 years ago. If we could reach this level in space exploration a century later, imagine what future human civilization will do in a few centuries to come.

The celebration of May 4 should remind you that we will surely explore the Stars in the future.
